Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The National Council for Community Education Partnerships (NCCEP) exists to expand postsecondary access and success for students from historically underserved and marginalized communities. In pursuit of our mission, NCCEP is actively committed to addressing and promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in all facets of our work and culture.
For too long, students have been shut out from the benefits of postsecondary education based on their race, ethnicity, gender, country of origin, disability, income, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, geography, and other traits that inform their personal and social identities. We believe there is a moral, social, and civic imperative to address the structural inequalities that obstruct education and economic equity.
Our commitment to equity begins by amplifying the unique strengths and backgrounds of the communities we serve through GEAR UP. We strive to foster a diverse and inclusive network through our advocacy, research, programs, and professional development offerings. We are committed to supporting, celebrating, and empowering our network so that each member of NCCEP can play an important role in actualizing our mission.
Internally, we work to build a stronger and more culturally responsive team. We want individuals to feel heard, valued, and that they belong. We believe DEI is central to our culture and must be nurtured through intentional, active processes. As our network grows, we must do the same to thrive and better support our collective work in building pathways to higher education.
